Robert (Bob) Cupp
Big Sky Golf Club was designed by Robert (Bob) Cupp in 1993 and has since matured into one of the top golf courses in Canada. After a short career as a golf professional, Bob launched a career in golf design that has spanned more than four decades. He was Senior Designer with Nicklaus Design for 15 years before forming his own firm in the mid 1980’s. Jack Nicklaus credits Bob as being one of the cornerstones of his present global design firm and the two men were close friends up until his passing in 2016.
The designer of more than 140 courses, some of the more familiar course names include Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon, Old Waverly in Mississippi, Settindown Creek in Atlanta, Indianwood Golf Club in Michigan and East Sussex National in the United Kingdom, to name a few. Cupp’s courses have hosted over 50 National and International tournaments, including seven major Championships.
